Iran is Prepared to Reach “Reassuring Agreement” on Uranium Enrichment
Speaking to a Qatar-based news outlet, Araghchi highlighted that resolving Iran’s nuclear dossier requires diplomatic talks, noting that Washington returned to negotiations after previously considering military measures.
“Negotiations are the only way to resolve the Iranian nuclear issue,” he said, adding that the recent talks with Washington offered “a good starting point,” though he acknowledged that “a long road remains to rebuild trust” between the parties.
Araghchi stressed that Iran’s missile program is not open to negotiation, now or in the future, framing it as a strictly “defensive matter.”
He explained that Iran is ready to “build confidence to conduct realistic negotiations aimed at reaching a fair, win-win outcome,” reaffirming the country’s willingness to reach an agreement that reassures all sides about enrichment activities.
At the same time, he emphasized that zero enrichment is “not on the negotiating table,” describing uranium enrichment as a “guaranteed right” for Iran that “must continue.”
“Even bombardment failed to destroy our capabilities,” Araghchi added.
On regional security, he clarified that Iran does not target its neighbors but focuses on US military bases in the area. “We do not attack neighboring states; we target US bases in the region, and there is a big difference,” he said.
